We, a coalition for unity, are proud to virtually welcome both Desmond Cole and Reakash Walters to our campus on Thursday September 17th, 2020, at 6:00pm - 8:00pm EST via Zoom.

Who are our speakers?
Reakash Walters is a writer, community advocate and legal articling student; she was recently spotlighted for being one of 33 Black Canadians making change now by Chatelaine.
Desmond Cole is an award-winning columnist, activist and author. Desmond Cole penned the national best-seller The Skin we’re in, a Year of Black Resistance and Power.

Event details:
This event will embrace diversity; the conversation will be centered around anti-Black racism, abolition, activism, and the redefining of justice within our borders. It will also explore the ways in which the lives of 2SLGBTQ+ identified persons are affected by, and intersect with, the law. Specific attention will be paid to Queer folks that live at the intersection of multiple marginalized identities.

We would also like to hear from YOU, our audience! We invite all event-goers to anonymously submit a question that they would like to pose to Desmond Cole and Reakash Walters prior to the event (note: only a select number of questions will be posed to our panelists).

Qui sont nos conférenciers?
Reakash Walters est une écrivaine, une défenseuse communautaire et une étudiante stagiaire en droit. Elle a récemment été mise en vedette dans le magazine Châtelaine, où elle a été désigné comme une des 33 Black Canadians Making Change Now.
Desmond Cole est un chroniqueur, un activiste et un auteur renommée. Desmond Cole a écrit le Best-seller national The skin we’re in, a Year of Black Resistance and Power.

Cet évènement prêchera la diversité. La conversation portera sur le racisme anti-noir, l’abolition, l’activisme et la redéfinition de la justice au sein de nos frontières. Il explorera aussi la façon dont les vies des personnes identifiées 2SLGBTQ+ sont affectées par et s'entrelacent avec la loi. Une attention particulière sera accordée aux personnes Queers se situant à l’intersection de multiples identités marginalisées.

Nous aimerions également VOUS entendre, notre audience! Nous invitons tous les participants à soumettre anonymement une question qu’ils aimeraient poser à Desmond Cole et Reakash Walters avant l’évènement (note: un nombre limité des questions seront posées à nos panélistes).
